A police officer sustained injuries following an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State.
The Nigeria Police Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. According to him, the attack occurred around 1:00 a.m., but operatives of the Borno State Police Command successfully repelled the assailants.
“A group of armed individuals attacked the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State. Fortunately, the attackers were met with strong resistance from gallant operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who successfully repelled the attack. Many of the attackers sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds, while one police officer was injured and is currently responding to treatment,” Adejobi said.
In a separate development in Sokoto State, a joint team of police operatives and other security agencies carried out raids on multiple criminal hideouts and bandit camps on November 25. The operation led to the clearance of these camps and the recovery of several weapons, including AK-47 rifles and magazines loaded with live ammunition.
Similarly, in Delta State, police operatives engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle on November 28. The suspects, overpowered by the security team, fled into a nearby bush with gunshot wounds.
“During a subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicle, operatives recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of live ammunition, and 21 live cartridges. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” Adejobi added.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to addressing security challenges nationwide, urging citizens to provide timely information to aid law enforcement operations.
