Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that striker Taiwo Awoniyi is once again nursing an injury.

The 27-year-old, who faced numerous fitness challenges last season, missed Forest’s maiden pre-season game against Chesterfield on Saturday due to a calf injury.

Coach Santo confirmed the setback and expressed hope for a swift recovery. “Taiwo is dealing with a calf injury at the moment. We’re working closely with the medical team to ensure he gets back on his feet as soon as possible,” Santo stated.

Awoniyi’s recurring injuries have been a concern, as he struggled to maintain consistent form throughout the previous season. His absence in the pre-season matches highlights the ongoing fitness issues that the club hopes to manage effectively in the upcoming season.

Forest fans and management alike are hopeful for Awoniyi’s quick return to full fitness, as his contributions are seen as vital for the team’s success in the new campaign.
