The leaders and members of Traditional Religious Associations in Oyo State have been encouraged to continue fostering good behavior, maintaining harmonious relationships with others, and extending their support to the state government. The call was made by the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, during the grand finale of the Isese Day Celebration, which took place today at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Barrister Lawal emphasized the importance of setting aside August 20th every year as ‘Isese Day,’ a day dedicated to adherents of traditional Yoruba religion worldwide. He highlighted that Isese Day is not only for offering prayers and thanksgiving to Olodunmare but also serves as a special occasion to celebrate the rich Yoruba culture, arts, heritage, norms, values, and beliefs.
In his speech, Barrister Lawal urged the traditional religious leaders to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing any negative elements within their communities. He stressed the significance of maintaining peace and unity, which are essential for the continued support of the Oyo State Government’s initiatives.
The event featured vibrant displays by various traditional religious organizations, including Egungun, Ifa worshippers, and Sango worshippers, among others. The colorful performances underscored the diversity and richness of Yoruba traditions and highlighted the community’s commitment to preserving their cultural heritage.
