The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an investigation into the alleged diversion of rice donated by the Federal Government to the Kano State Government by certain officials. The party has also demanded the urgent prosecution of those likely to be indicted by an independent probe.
Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the State Chairman of the APC, expressed his concern over the recurring incidents of alleged palliative diversion by some officials in the NNPP-led government. He emphasized that such actions undermine the purpose of these donations, which are intended to provide relief to the people, especially during difficult times.
Abbas stressed the importance of addressing these allegations promptly and transparently. He warned that failure to take decisive action could be perceived as tacit support for these unethical and unpatriotic activities. The APC chairman urged the authorities to ensure that those found guilty are held accountable to restore public trust and ensure that future palliatives reach their intended beneficiaries.
The call for investigation and prosecution highlights the APC’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of government resources. It also underscores the need for stringent measures to prevent the diversion of aid and ensure that assistance programs effectively serve the people they are meant to help.
