The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched a dedicated task force to address the persistent issues of touting and extortion at the nation’s airports.
Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, announced the initiative, appointing Mr. Henry Agbebire, the Director of Special Duties at FAAN, as the chairman of the task force. Speaking to the press in Lagos, Kuku expressed her deep concern over the ongoing harassment and extortion faced by passengers at various airports.
Kuku emphasized her commitment to personally engage with all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure full compliance with the new anti-touting and anti-extortion measures. She declared that the era of “business as usual” was over, highlighting the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct.
Kuku warned that strict disciplinary actions would be enforced against anyone found engaging in illicit practices, underlining the administration’s dedication to creating a safer and more pleasant experience for all airport users.
