A shocking incident occurred on November 23 in Kuchibuyi village, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, when a self-proclaimed herbalist, Ismail Usman, suffered severe injuries after attempting to test a homemade “bulletproof” charm on himself.
According to eyewitnesses, Usman had confidently prepared the charm, believing it would render him impervious to harm. In a reckless display of faith in his concoction, he proceeded to shoot himself in the stomach using a locally fabricated gun.
However, the charm failed to work as intended, leaving Usman with critical injuries. The incident was reported to the authorities through a distress call from a concerned resident.
The FCT police command promptly responded to the emergency, dispatching officers from the Byazhin Division to the scene. Usman was rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Confirming the incident, FCT police command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, emphasized the importance of exercising caution and skepticism in the face of unverified claims. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless experimentation and the importance of seeking verified medical and scientific expertise.
The authorities are currently investigating the incident, and Usman’s condition remains critical.
