Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is scheduled to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Oyo State House of Assembly on Wednesday, November 13. This presentation is set to occur at the House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, and will highlight the administration’s fiscal strategy for the upcoming year, as well as outline priority areas for development and spending across the state.
The 2025 budget proposal comes on the heels of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process. Governor Makinde’s administration held Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum Meetings across Oyo’s five geopolitical zones—Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, and Oyo. These forums were established to allow community leaders, residents, business owners, and local stakeholders to share their perspectives and make contributions on the budget. Input from these sessions has been documented to guide resource allocation, helping ensure the 2025 budget aligns with the specific needs of Oyo residents in various sectors including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.
In preparation for the budget, Governor Makinde reported a notable 64 percent performance level of the 2024 budget as of November. This achievement, covering ongoing projects and initiatives in sectors like road construction, healthcare expansion, educational improvements, and economic development, is indicative of the administration’s drive to meet its targets for the year. By demonstrating this level of performance, the governor has signaled a commitment to transparency and accountability, which he aims to carry forward into 2025.
The 2025 budget is anticipated to focus on consolidating gains in infrastructure, enhancing healthcare services, boosting educational resources, and expanding agricultural investments. The administration is expected to prioritize projects that would continue to strengthen economic growth and provide employment opportunities while enhancing quality of life for Oyo State residents.
Governor Makinde’s presentation will provide a breakdown of projected revenue sources, allocation to various sectors, and planned expenditure, giving lawmakers and citizens alike a detailed view of the fiscal outlook for 2025. Following the presentation, the Oyo State House of Assembly will begin deliberations, adjustments, and approvals needed to finalize the budget for implementation.
The event is expected to attract government officials, civil society representatives, community stakeholders, and members of the public, reflecting the participatory approach the administration has employed in budget formulation. Governor Makinde’s emphasis on public input and transparency underscores his commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive economy for Oyo State, setting a foundation for long-term growth and development in the region.
