Honorable Oluwaseun Olufade, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, has renewed his dedication to advancing community welfare and fulfilling his campaign promises. This pledge was made during a stakeholder engagement event organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) at the Ibadan North Local Government Council Secretariat.
The event, themed “National Identity Project,” aimed to foster national unity by providing citizens with reliable information and opportunities for interaction with their leaders. Representatives from various community groups, including religious and market leaders, youth forums, students, health institutions, and security agencies, participated in the program.
In his address, Hon. Olufade outlined his administration’s significant achievements since taking office, highlighting his ongoing commitment to engaging residents and addressing their needs. He thanked the NOA for facilitating the event and encouraged continued collaboration between public leaders and the communities they serve.
Key Achievements Highlighted by Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade:
1. Security: Regular security meetings are held, and solar street lights have been installed in all 12 wards to improve nighttime safety.
2. Education: Inspections of primary schools and the distribution of sanitary pads to secondary school girls on International Day for the Girl Child to promote well-being.
3. Support for NYSC Members: Prompt payment of monthly allowances and a ₦1 million donation for constructing an auditorium at the Iseyin orientation camp.
4. Traffic Decongestion: Inspections to reduce indiscriminate parking and collaboration with the Park Management System to ensure free road movement.
5. Welfare of Local Government Staff: Foundation laid for a new NULGE office, with completion promised within a year.
6. Health Initiatives: Sponsorship of 150 individuals for health insurance under the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), providing free treatment for a year.
7. Environmental Sanitation: Regular community clean-up campaigns and water well treatments to ensure clean drinking water and a healthier environment.
8. Youth Engagement: Regular consultations with youth to understand their needs, fostering positive relationships and providing support.
9. Sports Development: Local football competitions to discover and nurture young talent, contributing to the growth of sports in the area.
10. Digitalization: Full internet connectivity throughout the council, including free WiFi access, promoting connectivity and access to information.
11. Agriculture: MoU with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the donation of 10 acres of land to support women farmers, enhancing food security and agricultural practices.
12. Community Service: Support for victims of incidents, such as the Gbaremu fire, and the commissioning of ultramodern lock-up shops in Bodija Market. Collaborations with Oyo State Labour Intensive Public Works (LIPW) have also provided employment and financial benefits to residents.
Mrs. Ademola Adelaja, representing the Director General of NOA, commended Hon. Olufade for his achievements and urged him to continue his positive impact on the community. Pupils from IMG Primary School showcased a cultural performance reflecting the NOA’s mission.
Stakeholders expressed appreciation for Hon. Olufade’s efforts while voicing additional needs. Community leaders requested more active engagement from councilors to facilitate service delivery. Improvements in primary healthcare and schools, road construction in Bodija Market, and an office for the Red Cross were among the requests made.
Youth representatives praised the chairman’s accessibility and requested a youth council office. Babaloja of Bodija Market, Alhaji S.A. Jimoh, and the Iyaloja of Ibadan North commended Hon. Olufade’s positive influence and encouraged him to sustain his efforts.
In response, Hon. Olufade assured that the requests were feasible and reaffirmed his commitment to meaningful community impact. He introduced councilors from each ward to ensure residents know their representatives.
The event concluded with prayers from Alhaji Busari, Chief Imam of Ibadan North Local Government, wishing Hon. Olufade continued wisdom in steering the local government toward progress.
