Makinde’s Economic Boost: Oyo State Renovates Cocoa House Complex

Governor Seyi Makinde has reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing security and infrastructure for private organizations to stimulate economic growth in Oyo State. Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, at the commissioning of renovated facilities at the Cocoa House complex in Dugbe, Ibadan, the governor emphasized that a collaborative approach between the government and private sector is essential for addressing the state’s economic needs.

The commissioned renovations included the park, reception area, and other key sections of Cocoa House, a historic landmark in Ibadan. Governor Makinde noted that such infrastructure improvements are part of broader efforts to make Oyo State more attractive to investors, thereby creating jobs and boosting the local economy.

Also present at the event, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, highlighted the government’s openness to partnering with private organizations. He stated that such partnerships are vital to achieving the government’s vision of economic expansion and ensuring sustainable development across various sectors.

In his welcome address, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, praised the Makinde administration for its support but also criticized the poor maintenance culture prevalent in the country, which he said discourages investment. He urged both public and private sectors to prioritize the upkeep of infrastructure to foster long-term economic growth.
