Hon. Gbogi Emmanuel, recently appointed as a Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, has declined the position through an official letter addressed to the governor.
In his letter, Hon. Emmanuel expressed his appreciation for the governor’s gesture but ultimately declined the offer, citing his commitment to his personal business ventures in the United States, where he has resumed residence following the conclusion of his prior role as Chairman of the Transitioning Committee for Akoko South South Local Council Development Area (LCDA). His tenure in this capacity was cut short when the appointment was unexpectedly rescinded by the state government.
Reflecting on the rescindment of his previous appointment, Emmanuel conveyed his disappointment and inferred that the decision may indicate a diminishing value placed on his contributions by the current administration. He expressed that this experience has led him to reassess his role and the sincerity of his inclusion in the state’s political landscape.
Further, Hon. Emmanuel alluded to his belief that the new appointment might be part of a broader strategy to pacify political supporters, particularly in the lead-up to the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State. He referred to the appointment as a potential “consolation prize” for ward canvassers, implying that it might be aimed more at political expediency than genuine governance.
