Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has firmly stated that he is not an ex-convict. Bobrisky made this declaration during a recent podcast appearance hosted by comedian Isbaeyu, where he addressed his past incarceration. He emphasized that he cannot be labeled an ex-convict simply for spraying money at events, an act for which he was jailed. Bobrisky insisted that such an offense does not warrant the stigma of being an ex-convict.

When asked if he would be willing to return to prison, Bobrisky surprisingly expressed a willingness to do so, albeit for a short term. This response has added another layer of intrigue to his already controversial public persona.

It is worth recalling that Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for Naira abuse at parties and was released on August 5th, 2024, after serving his term. Following his release, Bobrisky took to social media to express gratitude to several individuals, including Don Jazzy, Funke Akindele, and Tiwa Savage, who supported him financially during his incarceration.

This public display of appreciation sparked significant reactions on social media. Influencer Very Dark Man was among those who responded, questioning the true nature of these donations. He suggested that these contributions might not be acts of charity but could be indicative of a deeper, transactional relationship. Very Dark Man commented, “Don Jazzy and the rest contributing to Bobrisky speaks volumes… Do you think they are his enablers or his customers? That money can never be just charity; there’s something more to it.”

This statement has fueled a broader debate, with many speculating about the motives behind the financial support Bobrisky received. Some argue that these contributions could be tied to undisclosed dealings, rather than mere goodwill. The controversy has reignited discussions about the complexities of relationships within the Nigerian entertainment industry, where the lines between friendship, patronage, and business transactions often blur. Very Dark Man further expressed his disillusionment, stating that he had lost respect for those who contributed to Bobrisky during his time in jail.”
