The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the release of 20 medical students who were abducted along the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu Road.

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced the students’ release on Saturday, clarifying that no ransom was paid, contrary to rumors circulating on social media. Adejobi emphasized that the students were rescued through tactical and professional efforts by the police.

The students, from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were en route to Enugu to attend the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ Annual Convention when they were intercepted and kidnapped by bandits. The incident had sparked widespread concern, but the successful rescue has brought relief to their families and the general public.
