South African fighter Driscus Du Plessis defeated Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya by submission in the fourth round, retaining his middleweight title at the main event of UFC 305.

Former two-time champion Adesanya entered the fight eager to reclaim the belt he lost to Sean Strickland last September. The match was intense, with Adesanya leading 2-1 on the scorecards going into the fourth round. However, Du Plessis turned the tide with a series of powerful hooks and jabs, followed by a decisive takedown.

Once Du Plessis secured Adesanya in a chokehold, the Nigerian-born fighter had no choice but to submit, ending the match and solidifying Du Plessis’s status as the reigning middleweight champion.
