Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully apprehended a 35-year-old suspected cult leader, Olamilekan Akojede, who had been on the run for some time. Akojede, the alleged leader of the notorious cult group known as Alora, was arrested on Friday around 2:30 pm in Oja Odan, Yewa-North Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement posted on her X handle. She revealed that Akojede had been on the police watch list due to his involvement in several violent activities that have caused widespread fear and panic in the community. His arrest marks a significant victory for the police in their ongoing efforts to curb cultism in the state.
Odutola stated that Akojede would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation. She emphasized that his capture is a clear message to other cult members, highlighting the command’s resolve to eradicate cultism from Ogun State.
In her statement, Odutola urged other cult members to take advantage of the amnesty program offered by the state and turn away from criminal activities, becoming better members of society. This arrest comes amid a renewed wave of cult violence in Ogun State, which has claimed more than three lives in the past week. The police continue to intensify their efforts to restore peace and security across the state.
