Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, faced a disappointing setback in the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Semi-Final Performance
She had shown promise in the heats, running a time of 12.49s to beat USA’s Alaysha Johnson and Janeek Brown. However, the semi-finals proved to be a tougher challenge, and Amusan’s performance fell short of expectations As she clocked 12.55s in the semi-finals, a respectable time but not enough to secure an automatic spot in the final.
Despite her impressive performance in the heats, Amusan finished third in her semi-final heat, putting her qualification for the final in jeopardy.
The Athlete’s fate now hangs in the balance as she waits to see if she will secure a spot in the final as one of the best losers. The Nigerian athlete will have to anxiously wait for the results of the other semi-final heats to determine her fate.
