The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained seven foreigners in Kano State for allegedly raising the Russian flag during ongoing protests. The demonstrations, which began on Thursday, August 1st, are slated to continue until August 10th unless the government addresses the protesters’ concerns.

The protests have turned violent, particularly in the northern regions of the country, leading to numerous arrests, including several Polish nationals. Security agents have been active in detaining participants involved in escalating the unrest.

Among those arrested in Kano were seven foreigners, apprehended by the DSS for their alleged involvement in raising the Russian flag during the demonstrations. The situation remains tense as protests continue.

Ibadan residents, in an interview with DparrotNews, joined other Nigerians in condemning the incident. The community expressed disapproval of the actions taken during the protests and voiced support for national unity.

Many Nigerians have praised the DSS for their swift response, with several opinion leaders describing the act of raising a foreign flag during domestic protests as a treasonable offense and an invitation to insurrection. The DSS’s prompt action is seen as crucial in maintaining order and preventing further escalation.
