The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) began a four-day training program for officers assigned to its radio station. This initiative aims to boost the professional capacity of its staff.
The training was inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, at the Commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja. Olukoyede emphasized that this training is an empowerment initiative designed to enhance the skills of the Commission’s officers. He highlighted that achieving excellence in professional delivery at EFCC Radio is contingent on providing adequate staff training.
“The management’s vision is to ensure that EFCC Radio becomes a benchmark for professionalism in radio broadcasting in Nigeria. This is essential to meet the station’s objective of offering continuous public enlightenment and sensitization in the fight against corruption,” he stated.
Mr. Mohammed Hammajoda, the Secretary to the Commission, conveyed Olukoyede’s message, urging participants to make the most of the training opportunities and resources. “I encourage participants to fully engage with this opportunity by being attentive and ensuring that the training’s impact is evident in their work in the coming weeks,” he said.
Commander CE Wilson Uwujaren, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, elaborated on the training’s purpose in a statement released on the EFCC’s official X (formerly Twitter) page. He noted that the program aims to bridge skill gaps identified among those currently operating the radio arm of the Commission. “We have organized this program to address the skill gaps in our radio department. Over the next few days, we will engage in intensive sessions to improve our craft,” Uwujaren stated.
He encouraged participants to capitalize on the new insights and experiences the training would provide. “The Commission takes this training very seriously. Ensure you make the most of this opportunity and learn from the seasoned professionals conducting the sessions,” he added.
The training will cover contemporary issues in journalism, radio presentation, and programming, with a specific focus on voice training, body language, content planning, and audience interaction.
Dr. Ken Ike Okere, Rector of the West Africa Broadcast Media Academy (WABMA), outlined the training’s key focus areas: journalism (news production and dissemination), presentation (featuring top experts in Africa), and programming. He stressed the importance of creating engaging content to attract and retain listeners in a competitive market.
