Henry Abiodun has resigned from his position as the technical consultant for Sunshine Stars, citing unprofessional conduct by the club as the primary reason for his departure.
In a statement, Abiodun described the decision as difficult, emphasizing the challenges of working in an unprofessional environment. “It was a tough call to make,” he said. “Working in an environment that lacks professionalism is not easy, and it ultimately hinders progress.”
Abiodun was appointed towards the end of last season by the Ondo State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, to help rescue Sunshine Stars from relegation. Under his guidance, the team managed to avoid relegation and finished in 10th position in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Despite these achievements, Abiodun’s tenure was marred by internal issues and operational challenges within the club. His resignation highlights ongoing concerns about the professionalism and management practices at Sunshine Stars.
