The Oyo State Government has announced the digitalisation of 438,091 property cards for public access through its new Online Property Title Search Platform. The launch event took place on Monday at the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development in Ibadan, where Governor Seyi Makinde unveiled the platform.
In a statement signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, it was revealed that the platform represents a significant milestone in the administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in land administration. Governor Makinde, represented by his Chief of Staff, Otunba (Hon.) Segun Ogunwuyi, praised the initiative as a tool for transforming property search processes in the state.
“Transparency and accessibility are fundamental pillars in our pursuit of progress and development as outlined in our Omituntun 2.0 working document, the Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023 – 2027,” the Governor said. He emphasized that the new online portal simplifies land administration processes and enhances the documentation of private lands. This initiative, he noted, aligns with the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service and ensuring equal access to information and resources for all citizens.
The Online Property Search platform, developed in partnership with Private Network Nigeria Limited, allows residents, investors, and stakeholders to easily navigate property transactions. Users can verify land titles, check property ownership records, and understand zoning regulations, thus making informed decisions swiftly and securely.
Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Funmilayo Williams, highlighted that the platform represents a shift from manual property searches to a more efficient online system. He noted that this technological advancement will improve service delivery, enhance economic growth, and boost the state’s global competitiveness.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, commended the Ministry for embracing technology to improve service delivery, stating that the online property search feature will make property searches easier, more convenient, and faster, allowing citizens to conduct searches from anywhere in the world.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi, noted that the launch followed a staff retreat aimed at improving service delivery. She emphasized that the platform would foster transparency in property transactions and promote accountability through easy access to accurate property information.
General Manager of Private Networks Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ladigbolu Ayodeji, praised the state government for adopting technology, noting that the platform would reduce bureaucratic hurdles and enhance efficiency in property information searches.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including estate surveyors and representatives from the Nigerian Bar Association, who called for broad public awareness to ensure citizens understand how to use the new platform.
