The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has embarked on a comprehensive inspection of primary health care centers within the jurisdiction to address the challenges faced by these facilities and improve healthcare delivery, particularly in light of the recent cholera outbreak. This initiative was announced in a statement signed by Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, Head of Media Unit to the Ibadan North Local Government Chairman.

Hon. Olufade began his inspection at the Idi Ogungun Primary Health Care Centre, Agodi, Ibadan. During his visit, he engaged with Mrs. Akinbowale, the health officer in charge, who highlighted several critical issues, including inadequate space for the counseling, consultation, and pharmacy units, staff shortages, and the need for a night guard. Hon. Olufade reassured her that the nearby construction of a police station would enhance security and promised to provide an additional night security guard.

The chairman’s next stop was the Oke Apon/Yemetu Primary Health Care Center, where he identified a low turnout of patients and insufficient staff as the primary concerns. At the Oke Are Primary Health Care in Aare Latosa, the issues included a staff shortage, lack of space for a laboratory and pharmacy, and the need for repairs to the solar freezer.

The final center visited on the first day was the Ajose Primary Health Care, Agala Nalende in Ward 2. Here, the major challenges included insecurity, staff shortages, low patient turnout, and the need for a solar freezer to store vaccines.

After observing and listening to the challenges faced by these centers, Hon. Olufade assured the staff that the council would address most of these issues to ensure effective healthcare delivery to the residents of Ibadan North Local Government. “Health is wealth,” he emphasized, noting that the primary health care center inspections would continue.

Accompanying the chairman on this inspection tour were Mrs. Olatunbosun Aderoju Oluremi, Director of Health in Ibadan North Local Government; Mr. Oladejo Lateef, Director of Works, Ibadan North Local Government; Mrs. Funke Foluso Lala, Head of Information Unit, Ibadan North Local Government; Ayo Elemo, Personal Assistant to the Chairman; Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, Head of Media Unit to the Chairman; and Ayodamope Afolabi, a member of the media team.

This initiative underscores Hon. Olufade’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of the residents amidst public health challenges.
