Held annually two or three days after the eid-il-kabir celebration in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, this vibrant festival is a must-experience event that showcases the traditions, customs, and hospitality of the Ijebu kingdom.The festival’s colorful procession is a sight to behold, with participants adorned in elaborate costumes and intricately designed regalia. The air is filled with the rhythmic beats of drums and the sweet sounds of traditional music, as the people of Ijebu come together to pay homage to their revered monarch, the Awujale.
This year’s festival was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including former governors, senators, and traditional rulers. Some of the notable dignitaries included:

The Minister of Culture, Art and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa-Musawa, announced plans to list the Ojude Oba festival as a UNESCO-backed cultural heritage event, recognizing its significance and importance in Nigeria’s cultural landscape.
The festival featured age-grade groups, known as regberegbe, who competed in elaborate costumes and performed traditional dances. The festival also featured horse-riding competitions, cultural performances, and a grand finale of fireworks and music.
