A remarkable display of political unity transcending party lines unfolded in Lagelu Local Government Area as Hon. Akintunde Emmanuel, Rep Lafisoye Akinmoyede, and various political stakeholders joined the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, for his homecoming reception in Lagun on Monday.
The event, held in Kamorudeen’s hometown, was marked by a celebratory atmosphere, featuring a diverse array of cuisine and vibrant tungba music. It was a gathering where community members, political leaders, and religious clerics set aside current socio-economic challenges to celebrate their son’s attainment as council chairman, fostering a spirit of optimism and unity.
The reception highlighted the significance of political cohesion and collaboration beyond party affiliations. Rep Lafisoye Akinmoyede expressed his optimism about this new era where local and national leaders find common ground for the betterment of their people. Hon. Akintunde Emmanuel, Chair of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, described this period as a “defining moment” for Lagelu.
Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, in his remarks, emphasized his desire for a new era in Lagelu politics, moving away from division and animosity. He pledged unity and common service to the people of Lagelu. The event also featured the presentation of an award of excellence to Kamorudeen by the Lagun community, represented by their King, Oba Najimdeen Olalekan Bello, Onilagun of Lagun.
