In anticipation of the Eid al-Kabir celebration, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, has spread joy among Islamic religious leaders in the council area by distributing cows and rams.
Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, who procured the livestock in large numbers for the Eid al-Kabir celebration, ensured that Islamic religious leaders across the Ido local government received these gifts to mark the occasion, popularly known as Ileya.
Hon. Adeojo highlighted that this annual tradition, which began with his tenure as chairman, aligns with the Holy Quran’s injunction to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s commandment to make a sacrifice to Almighty Allah during the sacred month of Dhul-Hijjah.
Additionally, the chairman promised to provide cash gifts to leaders who did not receive cows or rams, enabling them to celebrate Eid al-Kabir in their homes.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chief Imam of Ido, Alhaji Waliyu, expressed gratitude to Hon. Sheriff Adeojo for his generosity, making the Eid al-Kabir celebration special for the religious leaders in the local government.
