The Oyo State Government has unveiled a plan to empower 500 youths across its thirty-three local government areas. This announcement was made during a press briefing at the Governor’s Office, where Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Wasilat Adegoke, outlined the details of the initiative.
Commissioner Adegoke explained that this empowerment program is part of the sustainable development plan for Governor Makinde’s second tenure. The initiative aims to provide recent graduates from universities and polytechnics with essential skills to foster entrepreneurship and leadership.
A dedicated website has been launched to facilitate the application process, which opens today. Eligible candidates, aged between 22 and 35, are encouraged to apply. From each local government area, 15 successful applicants, including special candidates, will be selected.
These selected youths will undergo comprehensive training that includes proposal writing, entrepreneurial skill acquisition, financial and business management, and leadership development. The program’s initial phase will be conducted at the Iseyin NYSC Camp in the Oke-Ogun Axis from June 10th to 13th.
Commissioner Adegoke emphasized that the program is designed to equip the youth with the tools and knowledge necessary for sustainable economic growth and personal development, reflecting the state’s commitment to nurturing the potential of its young population.
