Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade officially began his tenure as the executive chairman of Ibadan North Local Government yesterday, initiating his administration with a series of impactful activities and a strong commitment to the community.
A statement from Aderibigbe Yisahu, Head of the Media Unit, highlighted that, coinciding with Children’s Day celebrations, Hon. Olufade underscored his dedication to creating a supportive environment for the youth.
“Our children are our future, and I am committed to creating a community where they can thrive,” he remarked during a brief address marking the occasion.
On his first day, Hon. Olufade convened a crucial meeting with directors and heads of departments to ensure smooth administrative operations. This meeting set the tone for collaborative governance and effective service delivery.
In a significant gesture, Hon. Olufade, accompanied by Director of Administration Alhaji Alabi L.K., visited the traditional chiefs of Ibadan North Local Government. The interaction with the chiefs, led by Oba Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe, emphasized the chairman’s respect for traditional institutions and his intention to work closely with them.
Oba Adebimpe praised Olufade as vibrant, intelligent, and humble, expressing pride in his position as the youngest chairman in Oyo State. He also offered prayers for a successful tenure.
Following this visit, the chairman inspected the local environment and infrastructure. Guided by Mrs. E. Akande, Director of Environment, Hon. Olufade assessed the current state of cleanliness and public amenities. He declared a zero-tolerance policy for poor sanitation, urging officials and business operators to maintain a clean environment.
“The health and well-being of our residents are paramount,” Hon. Olufade affirmed. “I will not tolerate a dirty environment. It is our collective responsibility to keep Ibadan North clean and habitable.”
Hon. Olufade’s proactive approach and immediate engagement with various facets of the community signal a promising start to his leadership. Residents and stakeholders are optimistic about the positive changes and development initiatives his administration is expected to bring to Ibadan North Local Government.
