The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, joined parents, guardians, and children in celebrating this year’s Children’s Day on May 27th. Established as a holiday in 1964, Children’s Day in Nigeria is dedicated to recognizing and cherishing the importance of children in society.
During the celebrations held at Loyola College and hosted by private schools from the local government area, Akintayo emphasized the crucial role of children as future leaders and the backbone of the nation. He highlighted the importance of creating a conducive environment for children to grow and develop their full potential.
“We recognize the importance of children in our society and are dedicated to ensuring their well-being and development,” Akintayo said. “We will continue to support initiatives that promote children’s rights and provide opportunities for them to thrive.”
The chairman also called for collaborative measures with private school owners, stating the local government’s readiness to support them in providing a basic and conducive learning environment for children.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts and awards to outstanding children excelling in various fields, including academics, sports, and the arts. The children expressed their gratitude to the local government for organizing the event and making them feel special.
The celebration concluded with a call to action, urging parents, guardians, and the government to continue supporting children’s development and protecting their rights.
