Harmonizing Change: Ibadan North’s Transitioning Committee Sets Stage for Seamless Governance Handover

The official inauguration of the Ibadan North transitioning committee marked a pivotal moment in the region’s governance history. Held at the esteemed Ibadan North Local Government secretariat on May 7, 2024, the event drew together key stakeholders, including the transitioning committee of the incoming chairman, Hon. OLUWASEUN OLUFADE, under the adept leadership of Chairman Prince Adebowale Falana and his dedicated team.

The transitioning committee was warmly welcomed by the outgoing chairman of the Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Akanbi Waheed Biro, and his transition committee. Chairman Biro set a tone of unity and collaboration, stressing the significance of transparency and cooperation throughout the transition process. His impassioned call for harmony resonated with attendees, urging them to set aside differences and work collectively towards a common goal.

At the helm of the handing over committee stood Alhaja Muideen, the esteemed Head of local govt administration of Ibadan North Local Government. Alongside Alhaja Muideen were other notable heads and directors of departments, including The HLA of the Aare Latoosa and Irepodun LCDA, all committed to facilitating a seamless transfer of power.

Prince Adebowale, in his address, reiterated the committee’s commitment to a smooth transition, emphasizing their mission to uphold integrity and fairness. He outlined the specific roles and responsibilities of each member of the transitioning committee, recognizing the crucial departments essential for documentation and governance continuity.

The delineated roles underscored the importance of:

1. Hon Akeem Ismail – Estate & Town Planning and land

2. Mr Mustapha Hamdy – Works

3. Mrs Yemisi Olooto – Health and Environmental

4. Mr Abiodun Agboluaje Don deal – Education, budget and finance

5. Mrs Mariam Oni – Information and admin

6. Mr Adeagbo Adewunmi – Agricultural

 

The transitioning committee outlines their requests and projections for the following:

 

*Organogram of the local government

*List of local government staff

*Total number of adhoc staff’s and their list

*The LGA IGR, and the IGR in collaboration of the state

*Ongoing contract and executed contracts

*List of contractors

*physical sighting of on going projects

*Administrative department managing markets under the LGA

*All the LGA and LCDAs account operations

*Assets of the LGA and LCDAs

*Liabilities of the LGA and LCDAs

* Statement of account

 

The meeting concluded with an atmosphere of camaraderie as members of both committees acquainted themselves with one another, laying the foundation for a collaborative and effective transition process that would ultimately benefit the residents of Ibadan North.

 

Members of the transitioning committee will officially commence their duties tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, in their designated areas, starting with the collection of accurate data, for total proper documentation.
