The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has assured restoring power to the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan within the next two days.

The Minister made the disclosure today while addressing students of University of Ibadan who stormed out to protest the power outage which has lingered at the facility for over 100 days, causing disruption to healthcare delivery to citizens and education of students.
Adelabu, while attributing the root cause of the persistent issue to the clinical service sector being overburdened with electricity bills utilized by every other independent consumers within the Hospital territory, assured that there will now be proper separation while reconnection is being made to the national grid.
The minister also noted that the federal government has put in place plans to incorporate UCH and UI into the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) which will ensure the installation of a 50MW inter-connected solar power mini-grid which is believed to reduce the burden of energy bills paid by both institutions before the end of the year.
The Chief Medical Director, UCH, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo and the Managing Director of IBEDC, Engineer Francis Agoha assured the students of soonest resolution of the poor power supply to both UI and UCH.
