The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested blogger Sylvester Victor Augustus for cloning its official website in a bid to deceive the public with a fraudulent recruitment scam.

Augustus, a 32-year-old from Akpan Eno Street in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, was captured on Thursday after DSS agents traced him to his home.

The suspect, a self-proclaimed content creator and University of Uyo graduate, allegedly built a fake DSS site to advertise a non-existent recruitment campaign, aiming to exploit people by charging them for job applications.

The DSS quickly issued a statement denouncing the fake recruitment, calling it a scam and urging the public to ignore the false notices.

A source from the DSS confirmed to Vanguard on Friday that Augustus would soon face charges in court.
